Designing a Digital Experience that Connects People, Place and Purpose
Zeit is a vibrant cultural destination nestled in the historic Līgatne Kasku cehs – a creative quarter where a hotel, café, net park, seminar spaces and diverse cultural events come together in harmony. More than just a venue, Zeit is a gathering place for locals and visitors alike, offering year-round experiences in an environment that encourages curiosity, connection and community.
JL Web Studio was commissioned to create a digital platform that would reflect Zeit’s multifaceted identity while supporting its operational and commercial needs. The challenge was to design a user-friendly website that made navigation through a wide range of offerings intuitive and engaging, while also incorporating e-commerce features for ticketing and gift cards. The solution needed to strike a balance between creative expression and digital efficiency.
We began by designing in collaboration with Kannele studio an interactive map as the central navigation tool. Each element of Zeit – the café, hotel, net park or seminar space – was assigned a unique color.
This visual system provided immediate clarity, helping users understand and access each area of the site with ease.
The result is a seamless, visual journey through Zeit’s creative landscape.
The website integrates e-commerce functionalities that allow users to purchase event tickets, book net park visits, and buy digital gift cards. Careful attention was paid to the user experience, ensuring that despite the variety of services offered, the buying process remained simple and frictionless. The website is now not only an information platform but a key revenue channel that supports Zeit’s business model and long-term sustainability.
Beyond technical functionality, the website has had a broader regional impact. By extending visibility and accessibility of Zeit’s offerings, the platform has helped boost off-season tourism in Līgatne. As a result, local businesses benefit from a more stable influx of visitors throughout the year – bringing growth not just to Zeit, but to the entire community.
This project demonstrates the power of well-executed digital infrastructure in supporting place-based initiatives. By designing a digital tool that is as dynamic and inclusive as the creative quarter it represents, Jaka helped Zeit expand its reach, improve operations and enrich the cultural life of a small but vibrant town.
